The more specific your message, the faster you get a useful answer. Helpful details are the date, the town, the type of occasion and the moments you would like music. If you have not decided on the moments yet, that is fine — I will suggest what usually works well for comparable ceremonies.

For funerals, please call or send a WhatsApp message rather than an email. Funerals are usually arranged within a few days and a direct line avoids unnecessary waiting. For weddings, corporate events and lesson enquiries the form or a WhatsApp message is perfectly fine.

All prices include Dutch VAT and are confirmed in writing beforehand, travel costs included. An enquiry or an orientation call costs nothing; nothing is booked until you have received a written confirmation of date, time and package.

Performances are possible throughout the Netherlands, and nearby border regions in Belgium and Germany can be discussed. Communication in English is no problem at all.

Frequently asked questions

How far in advance should I book? For weddings, three to nine months ahead is common, especially for Saturdays in spring and summer. Funerals are different: they are usually arranged within two to five days, and I keep room in the diary for them. For corporate events and remembrance ceremonies a few weeks ahead is normally enough.

Can the bagpipes be played indoors? Yes, provided the space is large enough. A church, a crematorium hall, a large venue or a historic building works very well. A living room or a small reception area is too small: the volume makes conversation impossible. In doubtful cases we plan the playing moment outside or at the entrance, which often produces the strongest effect anyway.

What happens in bad weather? The pipes handle wind and cold well, but sustained rain damages the instrument and affects tuning. In that case we move the playing moment under cover or bring it forward to a dry window. A booking is not cancelled because of rain; the execution is adapted.

What is included in the price? Quoted rates include Dutch VAT. Attire depends on the selected package: smart formal wear for the compact performance and traditional kilt with D-Dress jacket for the other packages. Instrument preparation, tuning on site and personal consultation beforehand are included. Travel and time compensation is listed separately and visibly in the quote.

How long is the playing time? That depends on the package. Bagpipe music is at its strongest in short, focused moments of a few minutes: a procession, a moment of silence, a departure. Playing continuously for long stretches is neither acoustically desirable nor musically necessary.
