Remembrance & ceremony
The bagpipe at moments of remembrance
For memorial services, veteran funerals, military commemorations and 4 May / Liberation Day ceremonies — the bagpipe carries a weight other instruments simply can't.
Music for remembrance
- When the Battle is Over — a restrained lament for the fallen.
- Amazing Grace — universally moving, used at countless military and civilian memorials.
- Company's Lament (piobaireachd) — quiet, deeply contemplative.
- The Battle's O'er — traditional military tune.
- Highland Cathedral — solemn, modern, ceremonial.
Working with veterans and military organisations
I am available for remembrance ceremonies organised by veteran groups and local authorities, and I am familiar with the protocol around piping — silences, positioning and timing relative to the Last Post and the two-minute silence. I coordinate the running order with your master of ceremonies in advance.
4 and 5 May (Netherlands)
I'm available for the national days of remembrance and liberation across the Netherlands. Book early — these dates fill up months in advance.
